Emergency Plumbing in Chippendale

Bessie could smell gas and she was sure it wasn’t her imagination this time. For days she’d caught whiffs of it, but it was a lot stronger now. She turned off all her gas appliances and checked the meter out the front. Sure enough, the numbers were slowly ticking over. There was no way she could go to bed tonight knowing there was gas oozing into her home, polluting her air! What if something sparked and she woke up in another suburb with only shards of her house left! No, she needed it looked at now! Bessie knocked on her neighbour, Michael’s, door. He’d had a plumber out last week and she had a couple of questions.

The interrogation went well and Michael happily handed over the number for a local Chippendale Plumber who also dealt with gas issues. Bessie was delighted, once she rang the number, to discover the Plumber was able to get there that day and help her find and fix the gas leak! She pottered about outside for a few hours, not wanting to go inside and smell gas, as she waited for the Plumber. He arrived on time, as scheduled, and put protective covers over his boots before he walked inside. She showed him to her various gas appliances. The gas heater in the lounge room, the hot water system in the laundry. It was the gas cooktop that the Plumber took an interest in. The smell was strongest in the kitchen. Bessie watched as the Neighbourhood Plumber performed a bubble test on the line, connecting the stove to the gas supply. The source of the leak appeared, stemming from a worn section of hose. The Plumber immediately got to work, replacing the damaged hose. Once it was connected and sealed, the Plumber turned the gas on and tested the line. They checked the meter and the numbers had stopped ticking over. The problem was solved! Bessie would be able to sleep a lot more comfortably tonight with the knowledge her house was secure!
